Stirling Defeat

Cowden dominated for long spells in 2nd half.  First half was even. 1st half Christe booked for bring wardlaw down. Red card? Violent conduct... Toorie long  anger. Robbo missed sitter - slipped past post. Wardlaw & Dempster headersclose. Wardlaw dominated stirling centre half. Beaky back to self.

Cowden slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Forthbank on Saturday.  This continues Cowdens rather miserable run away to Stirling with no wins there since 1988!

In a rather even first half the better chances fell to Cowden with the closest to a goal coming from Cowden skipper Craig Winter who fired inches wide from 35 yards.  The most controversial incident of the game saw a booking come for the Stirling keeper who scythed down Gareth Wardlaw.  Could have been a red card for violent conduct in all honesty but the ref was lenient and boked the keeper.

Wardlaw was toying with the Stirling defence and his skill set up Jon Robertson who somehow managed to roll the ball just wide when 1 on 1 with the keeper. Wardlaw headered wide before Stirling struck.  A cross into the box seemed simple for Davie Hay until the ball held up in the wind and made his punch go straight up in the air.  A scramble in the box saw the ball fall to sub Mullen who fired home off the underside of the bar.

Cowden pilled on the pressure and had the ball in the net but the offside flag was up.  Late on Dempster headered wide but Cowden could not force a deserved equaliser.

Next up is...Stirling again!  Tuesday night Central Park.
