Stenny Stroll!

Cowdenbeath secured a deserved 1-0 victory over Old Enemies Stenhousemuir at Central Park on Saturday.  The Cowden team saw Jon Robertson return but he was forced to play in the unusual position of right back due to Dene Droudge and Mark Baxters injuries.

Cowden were on top from the start - Gareth Wardlaw created a couple of chances but nothing really too exciting.  Stenhousemuir continued with their normal tactics - punt, header, lose ball - throughout the whole 90 minutes. Despite their tactics they were proving tricky to break down.  It was 0-0 at half time with Cowden on top.

The 2nd half was the same - Cowden playing some neat, tidy football and playing well but just lacking that final bit of magic.  The goal finally came around the 70 minute mark.  Wardlaw bulleting a header into the roof of the net after a great cross from Robertson (Wardlaw had missed an identical chance only minutes earlier).

The dying seconds saw Cowden bring on Danny Mackay - Danny had been out injured for the best part of a year after a serious injury in the play-off semis against East Stirling.  He quite rightly recieved a huge ovation from the Cowden support and it is great to see a talented youngster back where he belongs on the pitch.
