Stalemate In Drab Match

Its all to play for in the second leg of the play off finals after Cowden and Stenny played out a dour scoreless draw. In a game of few chances neither side really deserved to take a goal advantage to the next leg at Ochilview this Saturday.

Both sides ended the match with 10 men after 2 red cards in the last 10 minutes. Darren McGregor was harshly given a straight red for a tackle on Andy Brand a few minutes after Chris Mcleod had been sent off for a second yellow card offence.

The first half saw both sides struggle to play attractive football and the only real chance of the half fell to Cowdens John Gemmell whos long range shot was tipped wide of the post. Scott Dalziel had an oppurtunity to put Stenny one nil up but failed to connect with a tempting cross.

The second half began in the same manner as the first with neither side playing much football. The best player on the park Dalziel had Stennys best chance of the match when he raced through one on one with Davie Hay and fired a shot right at the keeper. John Gemmell had a header fly inches wide in a game that seemed destined to end 0-0.

Cowden now have to go to Ochilview and do something they have not managed this season to gain promotion - beat Stenhousemuir away from home.
