Gemmell Steals The Honours Once Again

Last updated : 01 February 2009 By Cowden Mad
Cowden extended their unbeaten run to 8 games after a narrow 1-0 victory over Annan. John Gemmell rifled home a stunning free kick just before half time and it proved to be the only goal of the game.

Cowden dominated pretty much from start to finish with Annan rarely troubling Davie Hay.  Cowdens intense pressure finally payed off after Graeme Brown was fouled on the edge of the box and Gemmell continued his good run of form to score the free kick which makes it 3 goals in 2 games for the big man.

Cowden continued to apply pressure but could not get the killer second goal.  Dempster struck the post and Ramsey missed a one on one.  Despite these misses Cowden managed to hang out for another vital 3 points.

Cowden have next week free due to Forfar playing Rangers in the Scottish Cup. This means that the next game is at home to Montrose on Saturday the 14th of February.
