Dempster Winner Opens Gap

John Dempsters second goal in as many games sent Cowden 8 points clear at the top of the 3rd division with 2 games in hand. It might not have been the prettiest of wins but it is the sign of a good team who can graft out results when not at their best.

Cowden were the better side in the opening half but other than a Graeme Brown shot striking the post not much happened. The introduction of Marek Tomana in the 2nd half gave Cowden more drive and although Stenny played better in this half it was to be Cowden who grabbed the winner. 86 minutes on the clock and John Dempster pounced on a flick on to bundle the ball over the line to seal the 3 points.

Oddly enough Stenhousemuir are Cowdens next opponents on Tuesday. This re-arranged game will be played at Stenny with a half 7 start.
