Cup Exit

Cowdenbeath were narrowly knocked out the Scottish Cup thanks to a late goal (88 min) for Alloa from Mark Gilhaney.  In a rather poor game for the neutral it was Cowden who were the better side but were missing the creative flair of Paul McQuade and the drive of Craig Winter from midfield.

The only notable chance of the first half was a Gareth Wardlaw header that went wide and the striker, who later hobbled of injured, will be disappointed he didnt score.

In the 2nd half Cowden kept up the pressurse and thought they had taken the lead through a stunning Scott McBride free-kick which hit the inside of the post and bounced to safety.  Like is so always the case when you miss chances the other team get one and win it.  Gilhaney latching onto a loose ball to slot home and send Alloa through to the next round.
