Cowdenbeath 2-0 Edinburgh City- Match Report

Cowdenbeath secure first league win of season at expense of Edinburgh City

Goals from Kris Renton and Lewis Moore saw Cowdenbeath claim their first Scottish League Two victory of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Edinburgh City at Central Park.

Former Norwich striker Renton opened his account for the hosts with his first goal since joining the club this summer as he headed into the bottom corner to hand his side the lead 10 minutes before the break.

The visitors went close to levelling matters five minutes before the break but Ross Guthrie fired his close-range effort wide.

Chris Turner and Cowdenbeath team-mate Nikolay Todorov both sent chances wide as the hosts looked to double their lead at the beginning of the second half, while Guthrie was unfortunate to miss the target at the other end as the game approached the hour mark.

The away side continued to look for an equaliser - Ross Allum shot inches wide of the left upright with 15 minutes remaining - but it was the hosts who scored the second goal of the game as Moore doubled the Blue Brazil's lead with his second goal of the season late on.
