Cowden Shoot Up The Table

Cowden shot up to 4th in the league table with a superb 2-0 win away to rivals Stenhousemuir. Goals from John Robertson and Scott McBride (pen) sealed the 3 points.

Trialist John Armstrong came in for Jay Shields while young Scott Linton came in for the ill Kenny Adamson.  The opening exchanges saw both sides have chances with Wardlaw headering wide while Diack managed to recreate a miss from years ago while one on one with Davie Hay with the keeper pulling of a superb save.

After a few more half chances Cowden opened the scoring.  The youngsters Linton and Robertson combined with the full back crossing for Robertson to header home (with the aid of some questionable goalkeeping) his first ever senior goal.  His enthusiasm got the better of him as he was booked for his celebration (surely the worst rule in football?).

The second half began in controversial circumstances with Cowden being awarded a penalty when Wardlaw and the Stenny keeper challenged for the through ball and the linesman awarded a penalty. On loan Scott McBride (who surely could get a game for the Pars the way they are playing?) calmy dispatched the penalty to make it 6 goals so far this season for the young striker.

Again after this there were plenty chances with neither sides taking any of them.  A 2-0 win shoots Cowden up to 4th in the table and into the play off spots.
