Cowden Go Marching On!

Cowden kept up their fine league form with a comfertable victory away to Peterhead.  Goals from Robertson and Mbu sealed the 3 points.

It was a rather make-shift Cowden front line with Scott McBride being partnered by Mark Ramsay in the striker role.  Cowden started well but almost fell behind when Strachan let fly from the edge of the area but the ball struck the bar and went out for a goal kick.

Just as it looked like Peterhead might get back in the game Cowden took the lead.  McBrides cut back was flicked home by young Jon Robertson to send the large Cowden support into raptures. After this though Peterhead could have equalised with many shots from outside the box and a Bavidge free header which went wide.

The 2nd half began with Cowden looking to kill the game off and the goal arrived just after 50 minutes.  Brian Fairbairn fired a free kick into the box and Joe Mbu popped up to score his first senior goal.

After that Cowden controlled the game and ran out the game to keep the 3 points.  Annoyingly Stirling again scored a late goal so Cowden are still top but only on goal difference.

Next up is Stenhousemuir at Central Park on Tuesday the 15th.
