Cowdenbeath travelled up to Glebe Park aiming to pick up their first points of the season but were left defeated after once again giving their opposition a player advantage.

This week it was Davie Hay who was sent off for a proffessional foul in the 8th minute. The resultant penalty was missed by McCallister much to the relieve of the Cowden team and to debut sub keeper Kris Bower. Brechin took the lead when Steve Canning fired past Bower into the top corner.

Cowden upped their game and got an equaliser through John Dempster with a stunning volley from the edge of the box. Cowden despite being a man down were playing the better football but were left stunned when City got a penalty for a handball by Neil McCabe. This time Harty took the penalty and blasted home.

As Cowden pushed for an equaliser they were caught on the counter attack and McCallister sealed the win late on.

Cowden will feel that if they had kept 11 men on the pitch there was a great chance of picking up their first points of the season. Next up is Dundee on Tuesday, in the Alba Cup before Alloa also travel to Central Park on Saturday for a leagye match.
