Clyde On The Mantlepiece!

Last updated : 23 March 2010 By Cowden Mad

Cowden came from behind against bottom side Clyde to secure a 3-1 victory.  This was a vital result with Alloa scoring a last gasp winner (yes again) to keep their lead at the top at 5 points but with Cowden having a game in hand.

Clyde took the lead after 45 seconds when White fired home.  Cowden were further rocked with Dene Droudge hobbling off to be replaced by Mark Baxter. We slowly worked our way back into the game and got an equaliser thanks to top scorer Paul McQuade after 31 minutes.  A comedy goal!  Clyde defender McLachlan thought an offside call was about to be made so caught the ball. Free-kick crossed in and mis-kicked by Lithgow straight to McQuade to tap in.

The 2nd half saw Clyde dominate possession but it was Cowden who took the lead - Jon Robertson tapping in after John Dempster broke the offside trap and crossed for the young midfield to score his 5 of the season.  As Clyde pressed for an equaliser, Cowden caught them on the counter attack.  Mark Ramsay crossing for McQuade to get his 12th goal of the season and wrap up the 3 points!

So thats 12 points out of 12 against Clyde this season!
