Brilliant Blue Brazil Crush Brechin

Cowden turned in a fantastic performance to hammer Brechin City 4-0 at Central Park today.  Goals from McQuade (x2), McGregor and Wardlaw wrapped up a great 3 points which keeps Cowdens faint title hopes still alive.

Early on Archdeacon headered the ball across goal for Brechin midfielder King who fired over under pressure.  This spurred Cowden into action - Scott McBride hit the post when it seemed easier to score.  Cowden were pilling on the pressure - Armstrong headered wide and Wardlaw almost got on the end of a great through-ball.

Cowden kept going - McQuade rounded Nelson but just over hit the ball and couldnt direct the ball home.  Linton fired wide. A goal was coming for the Blue Brazil.  McBride picking the ball up on the left wing and crossing for McQuade to bullet a header home.  Out of nowhere Brechin almost equalised with a fluke - Kings cross striking the post after a mistake from Davie Hay in the Cowden goal.

Cowden needed a second and got it soon after.  McGregor firing in a stunning shot from the edge of the box and into the roof of the net.  His second stunning goal against Brechin in 4 days!

Of course though we had blown a 3 goal lead against Brechin earlier in the week so there were some nervous Cowden fans at half time.  Thankfully Cowden came out and killed the game off straight away.  Linton's long throw was poorly defended and then Wardlaw had a simple header to get his 14th of the season.

McQuade then got his 14 of the season too and it was a wonder goal.  McBride crossing for McQuade to lash home a volley from just outside the 6-yard box. Cowden had other chances but just couldn't get a 5th.
