9 Man Cowden Defeated

Cowdenbeath lost their first match in the 2nd division after a narrow defeat to Arbroath. The game was ruined by poor refereeing decisions which left Cowden playing with 9 men and with a 2 man advantage it was no suprise Arbroath managed to scrape the win.

Kenny Adamson was first to be sent off after 11 minutes - a tough challenge that warrented no more than a booking was given a straight red card (the first of the season in Britain!). Cowden defended superbly and limited Arbroath to few chances.

Dene Droudge was next to be sent off by the referee after 70 minutes. His second booking was harsh but it was no suprise that he was sent off. Arbroath then upped the pace and took the lead from what appears to be a Mark Baxter own goal after he headered the ball into his own net.

Cowden pushed forward for an equaliser but were caught on the break as Arboath made it 2-0 through Scott. Cowden got a goal back from the penalty spot from Scott McBride but it was not to be enough to prevent Cowden from losing.
