Supporters Club Updates

Last updated : 27 April 2009 By Cowden Mad
This Saturday (2nd May) Cowdenbeath Football Club and the Supporters Club are absolutely delighted to welcome two special sets of visitors to Central Park for the match v Forfar Athletic. We would ask as many fans as possible to look in both before and after the game to make our visitors welcome. Firstly, ex-Cowden skipper and local legend Andy Kinnell has organised a reunion for around a dozen of his former Cowden teammates from that great Cowden era of 1st Division football when Andy Matthew was the club manager. There is no formal event planned - the lads are just looking forward to catching up with each other and taking in the game. They would also be delighted to meet fans both old and new who may want to recall the good old days at Central Park.

Secondly, our Dublin Supporters Club will be in attendance and they of course are renowned for the vociferous and colourful backing they give the club. After the match, they intend to present an award. So once again come along for the craic and a pint with the boys.

Finally, tickets are now on sale for the End of Season Player of the Year event which this year will be held at a new venue - Bar 39 in Broad Street (formerly Cowdenbeath Institute) on Saturday 9th May with a kick off time of 7 for 7.30pm. Ticket price is £9 and they are available from the Supporters Club Committee or you can pay at the door.

Among the awards which will be presented on the night are the John Finlay 'Young Player of the Year' Trophy, The Goal of the season (One Stop Mortgages) Trophy, The Lord Ewing Shield for the Supporter of the Year, the Player of the Season (Junction Bar Trophy), the Pollock Shield (for the best individual performance by a player in a match this season), the Hooky Leonard Trophy which goes to the highest goalscorer of the season, the Eric Mitchell Players' Player of the Year trophy (voted for by the players) and the most prestigious of all - the venerable Cowdenbeath Player of the Year Trophy. Make sure you are there - it's a must for Cowden fans
