Supporters Club News

OK, Cowden didn't win the title. However, now we feel it's time to move on and forget self pity or defeatist talk. It certainly won't change or achieve anything. This really is the moment to get behind the team and to show your mettle as a true supporter. Yes, it's hard to take but we ask the Cowdenbeath support to stand up and be counted when the going gets tough. No-one should be able to look back and say we didn't give fantastic encouragement to our team in the play offs. Let's make sure we do all we can and play our part. Then it's up to the team on the park.

As a first step, we therefore urge fans to get along this Saturday to the Cowdenbeath Supporters Club Player of the Year event which this year is being held at Bar 39 in Broad Street (formerly Cowdenbeath Institute) on Saturday 9th May with a kick off time of 7 for 7.30pm. Ticket price is £9 and they are available from the Committee or you can pay at the door. Among the awards which will be presented on the night are the John Finlay 'Young Player of the Year' Trophy, The Goal of the season (One Stop Mortgages) Trophy, The Lord Ewing Shield for the Supporter of the Year, the Player of the Season (Junction Bar Trophy), the Pollock Shield (for the best individual performance by a player in a match this season),=2
0the Hooky Leonard Trophy which goes to the highest goalscorer of the season, the Eric Mitchell Players' Player of the Year trophy (voted for by the players) and the most prestigious of all - the venerable Cowdenbeath Player of the Year Trophy. Make sure you are there - it's a must for Cowden fans. Go on, give the lads a boost by giving Britain's Got Talent a miss!

Turning now to bus arrangements. The Supporters Club Committee have decided to cancel the bus for Saturday's away trip to Ochilview to play East Stirlingshire. This game of course has been rendered rather meaningless for both sides as they now clash with each other again in the two-legged play off semi final on the following Wednesday and Saturday. We are therefore discussing with Stagecoach changing our bus booking for Ochilview under our season contract to accommodate travel to the play off match at Ochilview instead. If the Ochilview tie is on Saturday 16th then the bus will depart Central Park at 1.15pm. If the away leg is on Wednesday 13th May then bus will leave Central Park at 6.15pm

Bus places for away matches can be booked by phoning David Allan on 01383 724000 or by e-mail on daallan6754@aol.com
