Arbroath miss chance to go top as Forfar's slump continues

Ladbrokes League Two leaders Forfar failed to win for the seventh successive game after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Berwick.

Pat Scullion put Berwick ahead early on, only for Danny Denholm to restore parity on the stroke of half-time.

Quickfire goals from Danny Denholm and Greg Rutherford put Rangers in control and, despite a late penalty from David Cox, they hung on to dent the hosts' promotion aspirations.

Second-placed Arbroath squandered the opportunity to take advantage of Forfar's poor form as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Montrose.

Gary Fraser claimed the visitors' winner five minutes from time at Gayfield Park to leave the hosts a point off the top.

Annan climbed to third after their 1-0 success at home to bottom club Cowdenbeath.

Aidan Smith scored the only goal of the game, breaking the deadlock with a superb strike 14 minutes from time.

Second-bottom Clyde missed the chance to move further above Cowdenbeath after twice losing the lead in a 3-2 defeat to Stirling.

Darren Smith scored the visitors' winner after he and Ross Kavanagh had cancelled out Peter MacDonald's opener and David Gormley's penalty.

In the day's other game, Dougie Gair's brace and a late goal from Jordan Caddow earned Edinburgh a 3-0 success over Elgin.
